In June 1967, Mr McMaster made a gift of a wagon to the community. He said then "This wagon will be a symbol of the efforts of the pioneers and i hope it will preserve their memory".

The McMaster family came to Ilfracombe in 1890. They made many notable contributions to Western Queensland, not least to the preservation of its heritage. Bill McMaster founded the museum which has grown around this wagon, and later his wife Jean made a generous benefaction which has helped the museum become a nationally know institution.

The present day Ilfracombe community acknowledges the McMasters' contribution and salutes their memories.
